2023 Arkle Chase Betting Odds & Racecard

The Arkle Challenge Trophy is the second of the FOUR Grade 1 races on the opening day of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival and hopefully our betting tips and live odds comparison have already helped you to a profit on the first race, the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. We take a closer look at the Arkle in our race preview, as well as offering you more tips, predictions and odds to boost those early profits yet further.

The Arkle Challenge Trophy was first run in 1969, replacing the Cotswold Chase and being named, of course, after the legendary three-time Gold Cup hero from the 1960s. It is a two mile steeplechase open to horses aged at least five and sees the runners face 13 fences.

The 2023 Arkle Chase is one of the highlight races on Day One of the Cheltenham Festival. Many punters enjoy placing a wager on the Cheltenham betting odds and it will be interesting to see which horses are the big market movers as we get closer to the action.

The Arkle betting market implies that Ferny Hollow is the most likely winner of the 2023 Arkle Chase, with Willie Mullins training an impressive runner who has previously performed well at Cheltenham. The Irish raider previously won the 2020 Weatherbys Champion Bumper and we can see a spirited performance coming again.

Paul Townend recently gave Ferny Hollow a fantastic spin on Boxing Day where the horse was able to land the spoils at Leopardstown. A victory in the Racing Post Novice Chase was achieved comfortably enough, with a previous win being attained in early December when the horse competed well in the BetVictor Beginners Chase.

If you compare the 2023 Arkle Chase betting odds, then you can find a number of horses who could potentially challenge over two miles at the Cheltenham Festival. The Alan King-trained Edwardstone finished fifth at the 2021 Cheltenham Festival, with the runner taking place in the competitive County Hurdle.

The eight-year-old has achieved three consecutive victories during the current National Hunt season, although there could be other challenges in this race. A good Cheltenham Festival bet could be Blue Lord, especially from an each-way betting perspective, with the horse having fallen in the 2021 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle although his form since then have been bright.
