2022 Arkle Chase Racecard Betting Odds

The Arkle Challenge Trophy is the second of the FOUR Grade 1 races on the opening day of the 2022 Cheltenham Festival and hopefully our betting tips and live odds comparison have already helped you to a profit on the first race, the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle. We take a closer look at the Arkle in our race preview, as well as offering you more tips, predictions and odds to boost those early profits yet further.

The Arkle Challenge Trophy was first run in 1969, replacing the Cotswold Chase and being named, of course, after the legendary three-time Gold Cup hero from the 1960s. It is a two mile steeplechase open to horses aged at least five and sees the runners face 13 fences.

The Arkle Challenge Trophy will take place on Tuesday 15 March 2022 and we’re excited about the prospect of seeing some of the most promising two-milers competing in the second race of the 2022 Cheltenham Festival.

Shiskin was the winner of the 2020 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and this horse has since gone on to continue impressing the racing world, with the runner likely to be sent off at odds-on on the Arkle betting market for a race which would mean he’s a consecutive Festival winner.

There is so much to like about the Nicky Henderson-trained charge who has secured five consecutive victories which includes that win in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, with Nico De Boinville having steered Shishkin to a couple of straightforward wins during the 2020/21 National Hunt season.

The seven-year-old has taken well to the big obstacles and landed a comfortable win over two miles at Kempton racecourse, although Shishkin has not been tested unduly and that will clearly change when it comes to the Arkle.

Allmankind is the horse that could provide the most headaches for the Arkle Challenge Trophy favourite and Dan Skelton will be bidding to get an early Cheltenham Festival winner in the book, with the five-year-old trading at a backable each-way price which means that punters will be keen to get with an impressive runner.

Allmankind obliged with a victory in the Planteur At Chapel Stud Henry VIII Novices' Chase and this was a Grade 1 encounter at Sandown Racecourse, with the horse having beaten some other impressive runners like Hitman and Eldorado Allen, so we can’t dismiss this race as a one-horse showpiece.

Envoi Allen looks set to head towards another target rather than this race, while Franco de Port and Unexcepted are the other runners that could possibly hit the frame, although there are likely to be some big market movers between now and the off.
